British troops arrive in Bandung British troops led by Col. MacDonald arrived in Bandung on 12 October 1945. Armed clashes between the British and TKR then frequently occurred due to the attitude of the British soldiers who freed Dutch prisoners of war and allowed them to do mischief. On November 21 1945, TKR and the people's militia launched an attack on British army positions in North Bandung, including the Savoy-Homann Hotel and Preanger Hotel which were used as headquarters. The first ultimatum was then issued on 27 November 1945, asking the people to vacate North Bandung or the Allies would take firm action.
